The School Of Horse - Program Descriptions
CAMPS - HORSE DEVELOPMENT - INTERNSHIPS
Come join us at Horse Creek Ranch for a complete immersion into horsemanship. These fun and educational camps are a learning event of a lifetime. Horse Creek Ranch will be your home for at least 5 days as Steve leads you to a higher level of understanding and communication with your horse. The things that you learn during your stay at the ranch will permanently change the way that you handle horses, in a positive way. This is a small group atmosphere that will insure lots of personal instruction from Steve.
Some topics that will be covered:
• Confidence to overcome fears.
• Tools to keep your horse calm, curious, and respectful.
• Feel and timing to increase your horse’s try.
• Common mistakes of both the horse and rider.
• How to think from a horse’s point of view.
• What to do when your horse does the unexpected.
• How to accomplish incredible things with your horse.
• Key exercises to unlock your horse’s potential.
• Exercises to correct your horse’s bad habits.
At the end of the camp, you will head home with new and exciting concepts of how to communicate with your horse; allowing you to continue to build a relationship based on respect and understanding.
Each week at the ranch covers different topics and we offer different levels. Please try to pick a week that is most suited for you and your horse. We do accept beginning riders, however it is best if you can at least comfortably walk, trot, and lope your horse on a loose rein. If you are not comfortable loping/cantering, we suggest coming to a clinic first (see tour schedule).
The following are descriptions of the weeks:
RIDING WITH CONFIDENCE
"An in depth week about how to raise both you and your horse's confidence"
MOVING IN HARMONY - LEVEL I AND LEVEL II
"An introduction to riding with purpose for you and your horse. We will be introducing you and your horse to the fundamentals of overcoming trail obstacles and working with cattle"
RIDING WITH PURPOSE - LEVEL I AND LEVEL II
"A more in depth week about preparing you and your horse for more extreme trail obstacles and work with cattle"
EXTREME TRAIL WEEK
"This is the week we will putting it all to use. We will be doing more in depth trail obstacles and using the cattle for many more activities, including roping."
THE NEXT STEP - PERFORMANCE HORSE

Just imagine what can be done with your horse in 1 month.
Interested applicants can send in a short description (one page if possible) of why they would like to send their horse, as well as some background information such as age, breed, current level of training, problems needing to be addressed, etc…
Due to space, only a select number of horses can be accepted.
This very successful and popular program has been completely full every session that has been offered, get your application in as soon as possible.
Not sure if this program is for you? Check out our 'Method' page for more info and a video clip of Steve starting a colt in an International Competition.
Would you like to learn how to excel with horses? Do you have goals of becoming a professional in the horse industry? Do you want to learn the business and training techniques from the ground up? Do you need to know how the horse really thinks? Would you like to know how to train any horse?
Above is a fantastic video clip about the Internship at Horse Creek Ranch
This internship is a exciting opportunity to develop yourself and your skills. Years ago Steve started this business from scratch. He traveled the country in search of information, in order to become a better horseman. These travels took him to many places around the country. This was an adventurous process, although long and tedious. This apprenticeship is an opportunity to gain this knowledge and experience in a much shorter and more efficient time period.
This is a very sought after apprenticeship program and is a once in a lifetime opportunity to help prepare you for a career as an equine professional.
To be successful in this program you must be a people person, enjoy communicating with the public and have the desire to be the best horseman you can be. This program is designed for those seeking to ride at a professional level, and therefore is not for everyone. There are two types of education programs at the ranch. There is a 3 meals a day, kick back and relax with your horse camp program - and then there is the internship. The hours are long, the work is hard, but the rewards are great. There are those that have come and failed, and there are those that have come and survived. Each one of the survivors has gone on to have a successful equine business. If you think you have what it takes...contact us to hold your spot. Interns DO NOT bring a horse.
Some topics that will be covered:
• How to start horses properly
• Body Control Techniques
• Basic to Advanced Groundwork Handling Skills
• Basic to Advanced Horsemanship Skills
• Business Strategies
• Interacting With Clients
• Advertising Strategies
• Traveling Strategies
• And much more..
